U.S. CFTC: Soliciting public comment on a framework for retail digital asset trading, proposing to add a new exchange category for "crypto asset markets"

Latest ·  Oct 21 07:04

On October 21, Bitcoin News posted on platform X that as the Clarity Act stalls, regulators are independently formulating rules for digital asset markets based on their existing authority. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has solicited public comment on a framework for retail digital asset trading, which includes adding a new exchange category for "crypto asset markets." The comment period will close on December 14. The comment window for the "Regulation Crypto Assets" proposal by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will close on October 20. Regulators are moving faster than Congress in establishing rules; however, these rules may face legal challenges or be rescinded by future commissions. A durable regulatory framework still requires legislative action.
