According to Golden Finance, the German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV) announced that Germany's Sparkassen are beginning to gradually roll out crypto‑asset trading services. Starting Monday, customers of the first pilot savings banks can buy, sell, and custody crypto assets directly through their existing banking apps. The plan calls for adding 30 to 40 additional branches each month, with full integration of the key participating institutions expected by the first half of 2027.
The first batch of supported cryptocurrencies includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, and Polygon. This trading and custody service is provided jointly by DekaBank, the securities service provider under the savings bank, and the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, with a per-trade fee of €0.99 and no mandatory requirement to link a securities custody account.
The association emphasized that this product is intended for clients who have a proactive investment appetite, and the bank will not engage in large-scale active marketing or provide investment advisory services. Sberbank continues to regard crypto assets as highly speculative instruments and has clearly warned investors of sharp price volatility and the risk of losing their entire principal.
