Apple Bolsters Visual AI Strategy: Siri to Be Integrated into Camera App, Redefining Shooting and Interaction Experience

cls.cn ·  Apr 30 06:52

①Renowned Apple insider Mark Gurman announced that Apple plans to embed artificial intelligence more deeply into the iPhone's camera app in the iOS 27 operating system, introducing a new Siri mode; ②The new mode will allow users to aim the camera at an object, invoke services to ask questions, or perform Google reverse image searches, enhancing visual intelligence capabilities.

Cailian Press reported on April 30 (Editor Zhaohao Zhao) that well-known Apple insider Mark Gurman stated in a post, $Apple (AAPL.US)$ Apple plans to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into the iPhone's camera app and introduce a new Siri mode in the upcoming iOS 27 operating system.

Gurman wrote that, according to informed sources, as part of this adjustment, Apple will integrate the current "Visual Intelligence" function, which is attached to the camera control button, directly into the camera app itself.

Informed sources added that the function will be presented under the Siri brand and will appear as a new toggle option next to existing options such as "Photos," "Videos," and "Portrait," making it more prominent in the iPhone interface.

Similar to the current Visual Intelligence function, the new mode will allow users to point the camera at an object and invoke services, including ChatGPT, to ask questions about the object or scene; users can also obtain more information through Google reverse image search.

The upgrade for iOS 27 and other operating systems is expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC26) in June and rolled out to consumers in the fall.

Gurman stated that these changes are part of Apple's broader efforts to integrate AI into more technologies, aiming to demonstrate the company's competitiveness in this critical field against rivals.

In the upcoming operating system, Apple will also redesign this experience by introducing a new shutter button styled with the Apple Intelligence logo, replacing the traditional white capture button currently used in Visual Intelligence.

The feature can still be quickly accessed by long-pressing the "Camera Control" button, but this shortcut will directly open the Siri mode within the camera app, rather than the current standalone interface, which is harder to locate.

In addition to integration into the camera app, Apple is also enhancing the feature with more proprietary capabilities, such as scanning nutrition labels on food packaging to log dietary information and extracting and saving contact details directly from images.

Currently, Apple is developing a series of wearable devices centered around an enhanced version of Siri. The product lineup is expected to include new AirPods, smart glasses, and a pendant-style device, all of which will be capable of analyzing the surrounding environment. Therefore, improvements in visual AI are particularly crucial.

Software upgrades will also include significant enhancements to Siri, such as the addition of previously promised features, a transition to a chatbot-style interface, and the launch of a standalone Siri application.

In addition, Apple is working to improve operating system performance, battery life, and software stability.
