In news developments, on the 29th, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung convened a meeting at the presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae, announcing a government investment and support plan exceeding 1,000 trillion Korean won for semiconductors, physical artificial intelligence (AI), and AI data centers. South Korea will invest 800 trillion Korean won (approximately RMB 3.52 trillion) to establish four memory chip wafer fabrication plants in the southwestern Gwangju and Jeolla regions, creating the country’s second-largest semiconductor industrial cluster after the Seoul metropolitan area. Additionally, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will jointly invest 81 trillion Korean won to develop an advanced packaging hub in Chungcheong Province, specifically catering to the expanding production needs of AI high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
Huatai Securities noted that ASMPT reported strong order intake in the first quarter, with AI-related demand steadily expanding from advanced packaging into mainstream back-end processes. Additionally, silicon photonics and CoPoS are expected to unlock long-term growth potential. Everbright Securities stated that given the smooth progress of TCB and HB equipment development, shipments targeting HBM4 and 16-/20-layer HBM will further bolster the outlook for TCB demand. The company is actively expanding its customer base in both memory and logic advanced packaging, and analysts remain optimistic that its advanced packaging business will provide sustained support to earnings and valuation over the long term.
