CME Group, the world's leading derivatives marketplace operator, announced today that during the first weekend following the launch of its new 24-hour, seven-day-per-week trading mechanism, trading volume in its 1-ounce gold futures contract approached 15,000 contracts, with a notional value of approximately $60 million.

CME Group offers the world’s leading benchmark gold futures contract. Year-to-date, average daily notional trading volume in CME Group’s gold futures has reached a record $125 billion.
CME Group launched its 1-ounce gold futures contract in January 2025, which achieved an average daily volume (ADV) of 87,000 contracts in the first half of 2026.
In the first half of 2026, driven by heightened precious metals trading activity, CME Group’s metals business set a new record, with average daily volume reaching 1.3 million contracts, a 55% year-over-year increase.
CME Group’s stock price has declined 5.3% year-to-date, closing slightly higher by 0.02% on Monday.
